Biography of Amy Acker

Amy Acker was born on December 5, 1976, in Dallas, Texas. Her mother was a homemaker and her father practiced law. From a young age, she trained in both ballroom and contemporary dance, dedicating over 14 years to the craft until a knee surgery sidelined her.
After graduating from Lake Highlands High School in Dallas in 1995, she shifted her focus from dance to acting. In 1999, she earned a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Theatre from Southern Methodist University. While still a student, she spent several seasons with the American Players Theatre in Wisconsin and worked as a model for J. Crew.
Personal Life
Amy keeps her private life low-key. On April 25, 2003, she married actor James Carpinello in a small ceremony in California. The couple welcomed a son in 2005 and a daughter in 2006.
Career Beginnings

Amy made her television debut in season two of Angel, playing Winifred “Fred” Burkle. Her performance earned her the Saturn Award for Best Supporting Actress on Television in 2003.
In 2005, she was invited to join the cast of the spy drama Alias. What began as a visit to observe the set turned into a recurring role as the thief Kelly Peyton in the show’s final season. That same year, she also voiced The Huntress in the animated series Justice League and appeared in guest spots on How I Met Your Mother and Puppet, appearing in ten of the first season’s thirteen episodes. It was one of the most prolific years of her career.
Iconic Roles and Later Work
By 2010, offers were pouring in. She landed a regular role as Rachel Conroy on the drama The Good Guys and played the mysterious Catherine Walters on Vulnerable Target. Her credits that year also include The Good Wife, the horror film The Cabin in the Woods, and the comedy Much Ado About Nothing.

In March 2017, Amy was cast as Katherine “Kate” Striker in the pilot for The Gifted. With her experience in genre television, the role was a perfect fit. The Gifted premiered on October 2, 2017, and ran for two seasons before Fox canceled it on April 17, 2019.
Since then, she’s appeared in the parody series What Just Happened?!. Rumors suggest she’s stepped back from acting to focus on raising her two children, though Amy has not made any official announcement.
