New cultural center in Dallas

The Dee and Charles Wyly Theatre project was designed by Joshua Prince-Ramus and Rem Koolhaas. The latter is a world-renowned architect, Pritzker Prize laureate and the founder of the OMA architectural firm. On the other hand, his partner Joshua Prince-Ramus, the founder of the REX architectural firm, established an equally successful career. During the construction of a new cultural center in Dallas, experts focused on:
- creating a flexible theater that could accommodate multiple configurations while minimizing operating costs;
- the new theater was designed to be architecturally adaptable and create the illusion of temporality.
As a result, the new theater in downtown Dallas has become the pinnacle of architectural perfection.

The Dee and Charles Wyly Theatre features a multi-layered layout that has transformed it into a real “theater machine”. Without exaggeration, the theater can be fully transformed with the push of a single button. For example, the foreground, main stage and backstage can all be transformed in a matter of seconds.
During the structure’s design, the architects even thought out the material from which to make the stage and auditorium floors. Without investing a lot of money, you can do literally anything with it: cut, drill, paint, saw, glue, etc.

Since the Dee and Charles Wyly Theatre opened in Dallas, there hasn’t been a day that hasn’t been filled with exciting events. First and foremost, the theater always excites the audience since it usually features premieres on its stage. This is possible thanks to the fact that the 12-story structure appears to rise over Dallas.
Every visit to the theater is memorable due to a diverse range of performances, musicals and experimental dramas. The comedic piece “Menopause The Musical 2: Cruising through ‘the Change'”, which reflects women’s experiences throughout menopause, and a huge production named “Into the Woods” are among the most anticipated events. The last one, which took place in April 2024, proved to be excellent for viewers of all ages because it intertwined the fates of famous fairy-tale characters. Among them were a childless baker, Jack (the hero of the fairy tale “Jack and the Beanstalk”), and even Cinderella.
