The story of Ron Woodroof

Ron Woodroof was born in Dallas in 1950. He spent his entire 42-year life in this city. The man was an electrician, but he entered the history of Dallas thanks to a completely different activity.
In 1985, Ron Woodroof learned that he had AIDS. In March 1988, he created a community called the Dallas Buyer’s Club. The main goal of the community was the search and distribution of medicines for all people suffering from AIDS. At that time, this disease was completely understudied and almost no one knew how to maintain their health properly, the Dallas Buyer’s Club was in demand among infected townspeople.
Because Ron Woodroof’s character was hot-tempered and persistent, he repeatedly got into conflict situations. Thus, a man sued the FDA because they prohibited the use of drugs that the activist used and distributed among his club members. In addition, quarrels broke out around his closest people. He once threatened his doctor that he would shoot him. However, after the outburst of anger passed, Woodroof ordered flowers for him and apologized for his behavior.
The life path of Ron Woodroof became the impetus for the appearance of the film Dallas Buyers Club.
Dallas Buyers Club

The world premiere of the film about the life of the Dallas activist took place on September 7, 2013 at the Toronto Film Festival. The movie was defined as a dramatic feature film. It was directed by Jean-Marc Vallée. According to the recommendations of the Motion Picture Association, viewing by children under the age of 17 was allowed only with their parents.
The film grossed over $55 million worldwide on a $5 million budget. It received enthusiastic feedback from the world community. People noted the interesting plot, as well as the high-quality performance of the actors. The main role was played by Matthew McConaughey. It is believed to be the pinnacle of his skill throughout his career. The actor received an Academy Award and a Golden Globe Award.
The filming process
The film Dallas Buyers Club was shot in 25 days. This is a speedy deadline for such a large-scale film. The shot began on November 11, 2012 in New Orleans. Some scenes were filmed in Baton Rouge.
Such quick progress was primarily due to the main actors, Matthew McConaughey and Jared Leto (who played a transwoman with AIDS). According to directors and cinematographers, the actors got used to the role very quickly and there was no need to reshoot scenes often. However, the actors noted that their roles were almost the most difficult in the history of American cinema. They needed to convey the complex traits of human character: devotion, focus, confidence and others.
The work on the film was evaluated at a decent level. For the roles and assistance in the filming of the movie about Dallas activist Ron Woodroof, it got many awards: Best Actor and Best Male Actor in a Leading Role (Matthew McConaughey), Best Supporting Actor (Jared Leto), Best Makeup and Hairstyling (Adruitha Lee and Robin Matthews) and many others. In addition, the Dallas Buyers Club received six nominations at the 86th Academy Awards.
