Kitchen Dog Theater was founded in 1991 by a group of Southern Methodist University graduates. They began their theater work in the attic of a pawn shop in the Deep Ellum neighborhood. The founders of Pocket Sandwich Theatre are Rodney Dobbs and Joe Dickinson. In 1980, they stopped working with Dallas Repertory Theatre and decided to open their own theater. Over the 40 years of its existence, the theater has staged more than 350 performances. Some of them were nominated for Leon Rabin Awards. In addition, the names of many world-famous actors are closely associated with this theater (Dorothy Stickney, Walter Hampden, Ethel Barrymore, Vincent Price and others).
