All-day dining without the all-day compromise

Most restaurants that serve breakfast, lunch and dinner are good at exactly one of them. The Henry is the Uptown exception: a kitchen that plates a Korean prime skirt steak at night with the same care it gives cinnamon-sugar French toast at nine in the morning, plus a coffee bar that could stand alone as a café.

The concept

The Henry comes from Fox Restaurant Concepts, the group behind a national family of polished, chef-driven casual brands. The Dallas location distills the idea to its cleanest form: one handsome room that shifts from morning espresso to business lunch to rooftop cocktails without ever changing clothes.

What to order

At dinner, the Korean prime skirt steak with fried rice and pickled shiitake is the sleeper star, alongside Scottish salmon on farro risotto and a braised short rib glossed with bourbon caramel. The Wagyu cheeseburger holds down the comfort end. Mornings belong to the Flower Child scramble — eggs with roasted mushrooms, asparagus and kale — and that French toast with cream cheese frosting. The in-house coffee program turns out specialty drinks like The Rocket and a matcha blend worth ordering by name.

The space

A big, light-filled dining room with the polish of a hotel lobby and none of the stiffness, fronted by the coffee bar and crowned by a covered, heated rooftop lounge that runs from afternoon into late evening. Weekday happy hour up top is an Uptown ritual.

Who it’s for

Remote workers upgrading their laptop café, business lunches, all-day brunchers and anyone who wants one reliable answer to “where should we meet?”

Good to know

When does it open? Morning — breakfast and the coffee bar start the day early.

Is the rooftop weather-proof? Largely yes — it is covered and heated, so it runs most of the year.

What is the standout dish? The Korean prime skirt steak at dinner; the cinnamon-sugar French toast at brunch.

Is there a happy hour? Weekday afternoons on the rooftop bar.

Do I need a reservation? For dinner and weekend brunch it helps; coffee and rooftop visits are walk-in friendly.

This is a wonderful place. My husband and I came here for Valentine's Day and ordered a 3-course dinner, but the portions were generous, like they were from 6! Each of us could choose an appetiser, a main and a full dess…

The food was wonderful, the only reason I gave 4 stars is that they were busy, so it took a little while to bring our food. The Christmas atmosphere was really nice! The pierogi were so tasty! The beer cheese and pretzel…
