The Henry pulls off a trick most Dallas dining rooms never manage: the counter that pours a flat white at breakfast is running a full cocktail list by evening, and the best seat in the building is upstairs. The rooftop bar and lounge is covered and heated, so it works through a Texas August and a January cold snap alike.

The Concept · The Story

The Henry belongs to Fox Restaurant Concepts, the Phoenix group also behind Culinary Dropout and Doughbird, and it carries the brand’s stated ambition — “the greatest neighborhood restaurant” — into Uptown. The company describes the Dallas design as a blend of Gatsby-era elegance and modern industrial cool: polished enough for dinner, unfussy enough for a laptop in the morning. Ten other Henrys operate across the country, but this one keeps a Texan draught list of its own.

What to Order

The dinner signature is the Korean prime skirt steak over double egg fried rice with bok choy, snap pea and pickled shiitake. Behind it: braised short rib glossed in bourbon caramel with fourme d’Ambert, Scottish salmon on farro risotto, and a wagyu cheeseburger built on Henry sauce. Open with pretzels and provolone fondue — the kitchen bills it as its famous recipe — or spicy tuna and crispy rice; there is also a short sushi list. Brunch turns on cinnamon-sugar French toast under cream cheese frosting. The bar names are worth learning: the Uptown Cocktail with Tanqueray, ruby grapefruit, pressed honeydew and yuzu marmalade, Hank’s Espresso Martini, El Carajillo to close. Taps lean local — Deep Ellum’s Dallas Blonde, Revolver Blood & Honey, Four Corners El Chingon IPA.

The Space

Three moods stack in one building. The coffee bar sits at the front and behaves like a café, with its own named drinks — The Rocket, The Butcher, Pushing Daisies. The dining room is the wide, light-filled part, closer in scale to a hotel lobby than a restaurant floor. Upstairs, the covered rooftop lounge draws its own crowd and holds the weekday happy hour, served nowhere else in the building. Groups get a private room seating around four dozen, a rooftop patio that takes a hundred standing, and a full upstairs buyout for up to three hundred.
